Beaded Phone Charms: A Cute 10-Minute Craft and Handmade Gift

Hi friend! Have you noticed the little beaded charms hanging off everyone’s phones and bags lately? They are cute, they are everywhere, and the best part is you can make one yourself in about ten minutes. Here is how.

Why beaded phone charms are worth making

A beaded phone charm gives you a fast, adorable win. It uses beads you probably already have, it costs almost nothing, and it makes a sweet little handmade gift. Add one to your own phone, or make a batch for friends, party favors, or a craft night table.

What you’ll need

  • A phone charm strap or short chain with a little loop that fits your phone case hole (or a lobster clasp for a bag charm).
  • Beads you love — a mix of colors, a few pearls, and one or two star or heart charms for personality.
  • Beading wire or a headpin to hold the beads.
  • Jump rings and a lobster clasp to connect everything.
  • Small pliers to open and close the rings.

How to make a beaded phone charm

  1. Plan your beads. Lay them out in the order you want before you string anything. This one step saves you from redoing it.
  2. String the beads. Thread them onto your wire or headpin, leaving a little room at the top.
  3. Make a loop. Bend the top of the wire into a small loop with your pliers so the beads stay put.
  4. Attach it. Use a jump ring to connect your beaded strand to the phone charm strap or clasp.
  5. Check it. Give it a gentle tug to make sure every loop is closed. Done.

Three cute charm ideas

1. The color-story charm

Pick one palette — soft pastels, candy brights, or ocean blues — and build the whole charm around it. A matching charm looks pulled together and photographs beautifully.

2. The initial charm

Add alphabet beads to spell a name or initial. These make the easiest personalized gift, and everyone loves seeing their own letter.

3. The birthstone charm

Use a bead in someone’s birthstone color as the centerpiece. It feels thoughtful, and it turns a five-minute craft into a keepsake.

Make it gift-ready

Drop each finished charm into a little organza bag with a tag. A handwritten name turns your quick craft into a present someone will actually keep and use every day.
