Who we are
Crafting With Donna is a craft blog and store run by Donna in Backus, Minnesota. Our website address is https://www.craftingwithdonna.com. This policy explains what information the site collects, why, and what your choices are.
What we collect and why
Comments
When you leave a comment, we collect the name and email address you enter, the comment itself, your IP address, and your browser user-agent string (to help with spam detection). An anonymized hash of your email address may be provided to the Gravatar service to check whether you have a profile picture there. If you opt in, a cookie remembers your name and email so you don’t have to retype them next time (these cookies last about one year).
Email newsletter
If you sign up for the free Craft Night Checklist or the newsletter, your email address is stored with MailerLite, the email service we use to deliver it. We use your address only to send you the freebie you asked for and occasional craft emails. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you from the list.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand which guides people enjoy, using cookies that collect anonymous usage data (pages visited, time on page, rough geographic region — never your name or email). You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. The site also uses Jetpack by Automattic for site statistics and security; see Automattic’s privacy policy.
Affiliate links
Some posts contain affiliate links. Crafting With Donna is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program — as an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases — and an affiliate of Creative Fabrica. Clicking an affiliate link takes you to the retailer’s site, where that retailer’s own privacy policy and cookies apply. Full details are on the affiliate disclosure page.
Cookies
The site sets cookies for: comment convenience (if you opt in), Google Analytics measurement, and — for site administrators only — WordPress login. Digital product purchases happen on Gumroad’s checkout, which sets its own cookies under Gumroad’s privacy policy. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time; the site works fine without them.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles may include embedded content (for example videos or social posts). Embedded content from other websites behaves exactly as if you had visited the other website, which may collect data about you, use cookies, and monitor your interaction with the embed.
Who we share your data with
We never sell your personal information. Data is shared only with the service providers that make the site run: Bluehost (web hosting), MailerLite (email delivery), Google (analytics), Automattic/Jetpack (site statistics and security), and Gumroad (digital product checkout). If you request a password reset, your IP address is included in the reset email.
How long we retain your data
Comments and their metadata are retained indefinitely so follow-up comments can be recognized automatically. Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Analytics data is retained per Google Analytics’ standard retention settings.
Your rights over your data
If you have left comments or subscribed to the newsletter, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, or request that we erase it (except data we must keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes). Email donna@craftingwithdonna.com and we’ll take care of it.
Children’s privacy
Many of our crafts are kid-friendly, but the site is written for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
